A few days of sunshine and Mohawk will have good roads. , There is some talk of a picnic on Mohawk sometime in May. Mr. Spores and Mr. Davis have leon trad ing laud ou a small scale lately. Tho young nimrods of Mohawk have been killing lots of owls lutely. There are no grouse here. Vegetation of all kinds is coming to the front, though the weather has been colder up to tho present this spring than usual. We will now have a tri-weckly mail ser vice between this placo aud Goshen, returns from Washington having been received to that effect. John Benrfield who has relatives in this vicinity arrived one day last week from Red Bluff, California, having be;ii about two mouths on the journey. He rode a part of the way on the brakes of the trains, and evi dently had a hard timo of it, being nearly destitute of pantaloons, aud having his head considerably bruised. It hat been said that "Poetry is eyes to tho blind, ears to the deaf, and intuition to all," but the poetry copied by our friend "Rusty Pen shows that be is bent upon exposing the extent of his ignorance to the public gaze. In his cheerful state of bliss ht continues to quote poetry which he lacks the knowledge to understand aud the brains to comprehend. Aud, although the drivel i lms of this foul mouthed punster is beneath the notice of truth and decency aud so far as the victim of these malicious imputations are concerned, he fears not the calumny of the detainer nor the maledictions of the fal sifier yet when he circulates in a commu nity this ftlthj, licentious stuff, under the name of items, it is well that its Satanic of fice le denounced, and that it be arrested in its vitiuting, perverting and pernicious con sunuences. How astounding, indued, it is to what depths of infamy, when once warned from honor human nature can stoop, lie, the same "Rusty Pen" alias "Cor" alias "Frank" and as many other pseudo nyms as he may have, sought to mislead ns not loni-Jsiuce by writing us a most piti ful letter in the guise of friendship, and to cap the climax wanted us to publish an apol ogy, but his vain attempt proved futile, and his vain attempt was ntti-rly disregarded.
