into a time train, a hand train and a
striking train, these several trains com
prising separate- machines, resting side
by side ou separate frames. Each of
ilia trains is operated by a separate
weight, and the three weights together
reach some 3,500 pounds. The ham
mer that strikes tho bell weighs 80
pounds, the clock work is belo tho
the dials, which are ten feet ten inches
in diameter, and the hell above them,
or 250 feet above the ground. The

The experience of the last two Re
publican legislatures in Oregon should
admonish tho taxpayers to vote for
men of ability and experience for tho

lawful appropriations and otherwise,

ture will show a degree of recklessness
