Brown, of Gervaia. The couple went to
Portland on the Expreo train the same
morning, miss nrown wa wen Known in
this city, having graduated at the State Un'J
veasity last year. The cod pie have ths, best
wishes of theif many friends in Eugene for a
long and happy matrimonial' life. They will
return to Kugoue in a few days.
DbOwned. Dr S G Reufro was drowned in
Wiul ury crock, a branch ot Fall Creek, abnut
Feb 17, 1885. The hod v was found on the
20th. He evidently missed the ford and the
wagon tipped over catching him underneath
In the stream. The wagon' and one horse
were recovered, the other animal having been
drowned. Dr Renfro was 55 yearsof age, and
was formerly a resident of Cottage Grove. Hi
leaves a wife aud four children to uieuru his
detth.
Badly BrRNKD. A dispatch was received
iu this city from Stockton, Cal, Wednesday,
saying that Mr L I) Smith had been badly
burned about the head. Another message
yesterday was received by his wi'o here,
informing her that he wa burned badly
but not d ingernitsly. It i supposed that
the accident occurred from the exploeion of
a lamp.
In Town. Several Vry prominent railroad
men came to Eugene Tuesday, on a- s,ecial
train and remained over night The next
morning they went South. The party consis

jority in their efforts to force the continuation
of the aeshion to have been, and to be, null and
void; that we denounce the partisan methods
adopted by them to carry their end; that we
unanimously agree that we will not re-enter
the halls of our respective House of the Legis
lative Assembly, except upon the 'call of the
Governor of this State for an xtra session;
that we will legally resist any and all efforts
which may be made to enforce our attendance
upon future aittiugs of the pruteuded continua
tion of the present esttin; and that we will
support each other in so doing.

Editor Guard: Two bachelors from Cot
tage Grove, R M F and W W C, atteuded
the literary society her a short time ago,
and made themselves rather conspicuous in
some of the most important performances of
the evening by smiling at the ladies and in
dulgingin small talk, inquiring into the pries
of lumber, etc. The price of lumber over
sizing their "pile," they did not invest, but
returned horns and wrote a glowing account
of their trip1 and adventures, which was pub

Barn Burned.
The lame bain belonging to Mr Geo' Kbbert

about 7:30 a m. The fir wa discovered by
Assessor MoPhenwn, while coming to town

and a farm wagon. In th barn wa stored
about COO bushel of wheat, 600 bushel oats,
150 bushels barley, 15 tons hay, besides a self
binder, a drill, plows,harness and other article
too numerous to mention, all of which were

will amount to 12,000, upon which there war
was an insurance in th State Fire Insurance
'company for $500. At the time of th fir Mr
Ebbert wa away from home. When Assessor

bursting from the top of th barn. No on
had been in the top of the barn for several
