German Opposition to Rlninr, There is strong opposition to Blaine on the part of the Germans. Blaine has antagonized the German element to a large extent during his Congressional career. Carl Helium voices the senti tnent of that and other foieign ele ments when bo makes the tollowing bold announcement: "I cannot support Blaine, and I cannot see how any tin- ten of foreign birth with a spark c.f manhood can.'' With scarcely an ex- ception the German newspapers refuse to endorse the ticket.
