vote of 23 to 15. The delegate
were then heard in aupport of the

Ward spoke for Baltimore, Judge Fol
!ett for Cincinnati, Carter Harrison
for Chicago, A. S. Willis for Louisville,
senator Vest for (St. Louis and He

4:39. It resulted as follows. Chicago,
13, St Louis 14, Kantoga 5, Louisville
3, Cincinnati I, Baltimore none. Lou
isville was withdrawn and another bal
lot was taken, resulting in Chicngo re
ceiving 19 votes, St. Louis 17, Sur.
toga 3. A third ballot was taken and
resulted in the selection ot (Jlueago as
the place of holding the convention,
the vote being, Chica-'o 21, St. Louis
17. The committee then reconsidered
the vote by which June 24th was Hxed
as the time for holding the convention
and agreed upon July 8th next, instead.
The following cull was presented by
the Executive Committee.
The National Democratio Committee
having met in th? city of Washington
on February 22, 1884, has appointed
Tuesday July 8th nxt, as the tinm and
chosen Chicago as (he place of holding
the National Democratic Convention

there in number equal to double the,
number of Senators and llepresenU
lives in the Congress. of the United
States. The Democrats of each
organised Territory and the Dis
trict of Columbia are invited to
send two delegates subject to the de
tinion of the Convention as lo their ad
mission. All citizens of the United
Btates, irrcspeotivn of political associa
tions and differences, who can unite
with us in an elfirt to obtain pure, eco
nomical and constitutional government,
are cordially invited to join in sending
delegates to the Convention. The cull
is signed by all the mendier of the
National Democratic Committee. On
motion of Mcllenry of Kentucky it
was resolved that the next meeting of
the Committee should be ht l I at the
Palmer House in Chicago on July 7th.
The Com.vittee then adjourned. '
