saloon, in 'Jacksonville. The flames
rpread very rapidly and soon passed
beyond the control of the fire depart
ment There was a great scarcity of
water, which embarrassed the action of
the firemen, and, for a time, tlie. whole

roofs were also covered with snow and
ice, which impedecj the progress of the
