The Boseljurg Flaindeoler nays; Thnrwlaj of last week Joseph Hopkins ' u found in ft helpless condition at his soal mine near Looking; Glass. Peter Birch waa going out to the mirm and found Mr. Hopkins in a ditch, hav ing been atriukcn with paralysis, He immediately took him to his cabin, which was near at hand, put dry clothes on him and remained thcro during the night, On Friday Mr. Hopkins saemcd much better, and they started to Look ing Glass, but the shock was much more severe than at first supposed and he died the day following. Mr. Hop kins came to Oregon eight years ago and had discovered the ooal mine near Looking Glass. Ho wis highly res pected by all who knew him, and his eudden death cast a gloom over that rntire community. The great bridge which connects the cities of Now York and Brooklyn is not a paying inntitution. The interest on the bonds amounts to $750,000 per fear, and the receipts, over expenses for the opening day, May 24th to Oc tober 1st, were but $15,349 60.
