It is estimated that 14,000 logs will be taken out of the east fork of the liorth fork of Coos river this winter. , . There are 1 2,000 logs already cut, all of which are over two miles from tide water. The Columbia Chronicln says: A little son of A. Ragan, aged about 9 years, living in tho country, while riding a fractious horse recently, was thrown to the ground and his lower jaw broken in two places. Turnahan, of Bradbury, has Wn fn town for several days. He brought up a raft of some 500,000 feet of logs, andf disposed of tho same to Messrs Hucklo Bros. Mr. Turnahan is one of the largest loggers of Columbia county, He has already got out some 2,500,000 feet of logs sinco last March. Mist. . On Wednesday last Mr. Win. Hard in, fell from his grannry to the floor, a distance of twelve f'i'il striking on a scantling in' his descent. He received fatal internal injuries and expired Thursday afternoon. After tho robbery Mor dant escaped to Sacramento where a female companion followed him, the police shadowing the woman and spoil ing the reunion, by placing Mordant in jail swatting transportation to Sun Francisco for trial.
