On the 12th of the pres ent month the girl administered a dose of strychnine to Mrs. Shields, but for tunately that lady discovered the deadly intent of tho girl in time to save her self from death. Tho lady declined to iustituto legal proceedings, and the young poisoner wus permitted to return to Portland, wIhtu hIio is supposed to liavo arrived yesterday. Tho letter was sent to warn thu mation of the Home, Mrs. Woods, to be on hrr guard, as tho girl anight poison all tho inmates of that institution.
