The train ar rived at Bonneville at the usual time and transferred the passenger to Th Dalle boat for thi city. Ill train then continued on down, bringing a few tailroad officials and pas senger coach, on Pullman and two baggage cars, fcngln No 33 pulled th eutir outfit Engin 38 wa detailed into pilot service and at about 11 o'clock went ap the rd vral mile to escort th newly arriving train into quarter, bh was decorated with flai and vergreens and was quit tastily draiwd. At twenty minute put two ther arrived and witched dowa to the incline and transferred the passenger t th newly constructed ticket office. There was no ferry or steamer waiting t meet them, but it wa noticeabl that several of th company's ateaiuboata were steaming up, and it wa not long befnr a steamboat was along side th incline and pas senger wer qhickly and safely landed at th long dock, Shortly after th Reed bov In sight, bearing passengers and mail A th time for th arrival of th train was not defi nitely known, but few people were present when it pulled in. At present the facilities for transferring freight and passengers from AIM na to th Ainsworth dock are not complete, but things are being put in shape a rapidly a possible. Tte large floating dock which has done service at The Dalles, and being brought down over the Cascades, did service at Bonne ville for a few months past, was towed up to Alliina yesterday aad moored at th font of th incline. The tranifer of freight commenced immediately. The first through freight arrived on Saturday, and two snore followed the pas senger train Sunday. The engine (33) was decorated with a steel engraving of Henry Villard a a headlight, framed ia a wreath of evergreens. Flag of all sites fluttered through th wind. Fir boughs ornamented evtry available place. Al together it presented an appearance which will not soon be forgotten, and adds another to the events in the pmgresr of the northwest Henceforth and forever will the trains leave our city daijy. No more will we deplore the non arrival f our Eastern Oregon mail No more will the tourist tell of our beautiful Co lumbia river irenery. Gone ar thos day spent with Dan O'N'eil and his genial assis tant. This is an age of progress, aud but few will take the slow but pleaaant steamer.
