criminations against persons and places.
6. That we favor the maintenance of the
public schools, the hojie and pride of a free
state.
A. That the democracy demand free and
fair elections, and to that end denounce all in
terference with elections by the military pow

tries has abundantly proved that tho presence
of tmniis at the polls is destructive of the free
dom of elections and is incompatible with the
existence of free institutions.
7 That the efforts of the republican party
to open and keep alive the war feeling between
the north and the south are to be condemned
by every lover of his country.
8. That we favor continued lawful agitation
on the subject of mongolian emigration to this
country, until the fedvral government is moved
to modify our treuties with the Chinese em
pire so as to prohibit it, and thus save those of
(allow citleens who depend upon labor for sup
port from unjust and degrading competition.
We condemn ami denounce in the severest
terras the veto of It. Jt. Hayes of the bill lim
iting Chinese immigration to this country, aud
this rxiierienoe shows that the people have no
hepe for relief front the scourge except from a
Democratic 1'residetit.
9. That wv regard with alarm the recent
decisions of the supremo court of the United
Htates as having been mide in the interest of
the republican party, and intended to blot out
the last vestige of states rights, centralize and
consolidate the federal union, aud change it to
an empire.
10. That we hold to the constitution with
all its amendments, but we didst on an inter
pretation of the amendments in consonance
with the spirit of the originul instrument
11. That we pledge our earnest endeavors
to upholding system of ttiitraiiiuieled suf
fage absolutely free from federal force and su
