The masquerade at Lane's Hall on Friday
evening, the 7th inst, was a very enjoyau'e

affair in eve-y particular. Between thirty
and' forty couple were in attendance and
there was nothing to disturb the prevailing
harmony. As no record was kept of the
irnckers and the character rep -eseated w
will say that irauy of the maskers had good
costuircs aud sustained their chaiaclrs well.

wore Miss Lucy Blacbloy, who took .the

Sad Accident. From the JunotienCity
Rspublican we take the following: "On
Sunday night a fearful accident happened in
the family of B. Cohon, of our city. Mrs.
Cohci had been troubled with the toothache,
having had one extracted and Sunday u;ght
about 10 o'clock she took the camphor bot
tle and setting the candle in her lap com
menced bathing her face. The camphor
dripped down into the blaze and off it went
with a flash, exp'.od'ug the bottle and set
tit Mrs. Cohen's diess on fire. Mr. Cohen
tor her cloth'ng off, but not until she was
badly burned on both 'imbs. from the knees
down to the ankles. Both hands wire aso
severely burned. Mr. Cohen, ia his efforts
to save his wife, was also very badly burned
on the back of both his hands. This is a
most lamentable accident, and the 'aaily
have the sympathy of the whole community
j this trying affliction."
