Closed. The spring term of the Eugene
district school closed yesterday. The exam
ination took place on Thursday and was very
creditable to both teachers and pupils. There
are five teachers now employed iu the school
Professor Bell, principal, and Mrs. Stowell,
Mrs. Odell, and Misses Maggie and Letitia
Walkor. We congratulate Professor Bell and
his able assistants upon the perfect order and
system which they have introduced into the
school and the rapid advancement made by
the pupils under their instruction. Eugene
has one of the finest, most perfectly arranged
aud commodious district school houses in the
State, and although there was strong oppsi
tion to the levy of a tax to build it, we pre
sume that there is not a tax-payer in the dis
trict who would be willing now to have it
removed for twice the amount that it has
cost.

AX 0TEN LETTER.
It Speaks For Itself.
Kockport, Mass., April 2, 1877.
Mr. Editor: Having read in your paper re-
ports of the remarkable cures of catarrh, I am
induced to tell "what I know about catarrh,"
and I fancy the "snutl" aud "inhailiug-tube
makers (mere dollar grabliers) would be glad if
they could emblazon a similar cure in the pa
iwrs. For 20 years I suffered with catarrh.
1'he nasal pasages became completely closed.
"Snuff," ''dust,' "ashes," "inhailingtubes,"
and "sticks," wouldn't work though at inter
vals I would sniff up the so-called catarrh snuff
until I became a valuable tester for such medi
cines. I gradually grew worse, and no one can
know how much I suffered or what a miserable
being I was. My head ached over my eyes so
that I was confined to my bed for many success
ive days, suffering the most intense pain, which
at one time lasted continuously for Ki8 hours.
All sense of smell and taste goi:e, sight and
hearing impaired, body shrunken and weak
ened, nervous system shattered, and constitu
tion broken, and I was hawking aud spitting
seven-eights of my time. I prayed for death
to relieve me of my suffering. A favorable
notice in your paper of Dr. Sage's Catarrh
Kemedy induced me to purchase a package,
and use it with Dr. Piec-e's Nasal Douche,
which applies the remed.yy hislrostatio pres
sure, the only way compatible with common
sense, well Air. r.uitor, ii inn not cure me
in three fouths of a second, nor in one hour or
month, but in less than eight minutes I was
relieved, and in throe months entirely cured,
ami have remained so for over sixteen months.
While nsing the Catarrh liemedy, I used Dr.
Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery to purify
my blood and stregthen my stomach. I also
kept liver active and bowels regular by the use
of his Pleasant Purgative Pellets. If my ex
perience will induce other sufferers to stek the
same means of relief, this letter will have
answered its purpose. Yours truly
S. D. Hemick.
