The Wallu Walla Statesman rjicakinz ot ttie 6ame matter to which we referred hint week sayi: It is said that "God. moves in a mysterious way his wonders to perform." A casual glance at aomeof the Oregon papers will con vince the most confirmed doubter that it is not only true, but a living, breathing fact. Why some men are permitted to have coutrol of the columns of a newspaper will ever re main a "mystery. Upon our table, as we write, thero is a paper, claiming to be a fam ily journal, in which appear a paragraph for which there is not the slightest justification, and from which no good can result, but, on the contrary, is freighted with much that, sooner or later, must be productive of great harm. The article contains a recital of the domestic ditlicuhics of a man. who, ut the present timo, is not in public life ; and if he were, that fact, nor indeed any other, fur nishes an excuse for the parading of hi do mestic woes to the arte of an unsympathetic and cold-blooded world. Tho idea that a man, simply because he happen to be pos sessed of a few pounds of type, and under the cowardly cloak of that misabused term "the freedom of the press," can invade the sacred precincts of the domestic hearthstone, and, with fiendish delight, uncover to a gaping world the hidden skeletons that have lound a lodgement thoro, is preposterous and contrary tu tho civilization 61 the age in which we live. It is brutality and not jour nalism ; brutality too of the lowest order. PU3LIG OTUdtfS.
