A special meeting of tths City Council was held last Monday even ing to receive a proposition from Dr. Patter oa in relation to the opening of Twelfth street to the eastern boundary of the city. Be proposed to donate to the city the right of way for the street through lands owned by him on condition that the Council order an eight-foot sidewalk on the north side of Twelth street from the eastern line of the city to Mill street, and thence on the east side of Mill to Eleventh street The Council could not at a special meeting order the walk, but by a, test vote agreed to do so at the next regular meeting. This was done to enable the Executive Committee of the State Uni versity to build a walk from the front thereof to connect therewith, rather than with the walk on Eleventh street. J. N. Poindexter & Co. were granted per mission to stretch a sign from the top of the Lucky stable to their shop. Not Trus. Some of our exchanges are still repeating the statement that Mrs. W.H. Abrams died from small pox. It is not true. She undoubtedly died of typhoid fever. The cases of small pox in this place thus far have been very mild with the single exception of Mr. Witter 's child, which died last Saturday sight, and which had not been vaccinated. Changed Hands. Mr. Isom Cranfillhas bought Mr. Geo. S. Walton's residence, on the corner of Tenth and Olive stree t. Rev. Mr. Davenport has bought the Lane proper ty, on Tenth street. Public Speaking. A ten-foot sidewalk is being built from the University to' the eastern boundary of the city, to connect at Twelfth street Elder P. E. Burnett commenced a meeting At the Christian church in Harrisburg last evening, to be continued over to-morrow. Ten persons and firms in this county pay over 1300 taxes; 82 pay less than $300 and over $100, and five pay leu than $100 and over $75. R. R, Bounds took the first premium for draft horses at the State Fair, the team being a four-year-old Clydesdale and Morgan stal lion and mate. Oscar Griffiths has instituted suit against Mr. Sawyer, proprietor of the Italian circus, for the recovery of $160 wages due him M ad vance agent of that company.
