From the con tfiereial column of the Oregon lan of Wed nesday wo toko this : "la our local market there) are occasional transactions, but in most cases the; are by parties on one side who are under a necessity to sell, as nearly 11 who now hold the cereal have beeo bold os for higher rates, and the lower now pre railing does not cell it out. Oregon wheat 'ci-watAoase is quoted in Liverpool at 10s 4d10s 5d per cental With a dull market. San Francisco bos a little firmer tone, but there Is bo improvement in average prices. 'The crop of California estimated at 750,000 Hons is bow being moved. Tbre are some Iforty Vessels at San Fraucisco under engnge nient to load immediately and a few have already finished. . There were 28 cargoes en lronte for English porta from California on " the 1st of July, and -"iargoes from Ore gon. The arrivals frouW California in June ere 17 with an aggregate of 59C.200 cen tal of wheat, and 11,500 barrels flour. The arrivals from Oregon during the same month were 313,263 centals of wheat and 8.650 barrels of flour, making the arrivals at Eng land from the Pacific coast in June 1.273, 000 centals wheat. These havy receipts, says that paper, together with the prospect of an increased yield expected in England and no particularly discouraging reports from the other wheat growing countries of Europe, have probably been the reasons for the downward tendency in prices. We learn of one or two parties who have bought large ly in Oregon during two or three seasons ' past, who have not yet determined to enter this market at all the coming harvest year. Others may, however, tuke their places, and no doubt buyers will be plenty if prices jus tify an active trade. At this time but few vessels are nnder engagement to loud, and important changes may occur before the next crop is on tbe market in material vol ume, which will be a full month hence. A ealo of 5.000 bushels old, at 81 45 per cen tal, duiing the week, is reported. Wrbckkd. It was a "Waterloo" colt, tut he seemed to have all the dignity and decorum of manner of any one's old horse. Tbe buggy was turned out of the shop last week at a cost of $250. It was a beautiful buggy, and so far as it had been tried be haved ordinarilv well, and if Miiior Hen- dricks had not gone to the depot ou Tues day with that colt and buggy the one would not have been in the hospitul and the other on the dry dock for repairs. But he went, and the colt made a fool of himself and up .set the buggy. Then he got playful and made about three dozen circles across tbe three tracks with it still bottom side up , when be stopped nothing of the bugy re mained unbroken except the single-tree and .one spoke. It was taken up on a truck with a scoop shovel anl conveyed by hack alleys to the shop, and as tbe Major leels a little sore over it, it were perhaps better that von don't mention it to any one. Messrs. Hendricks and Bristow who were in tbe buggy when it upset fortunately es caped without injury. Disgraceful. One day this week io Long Tom precinct three young men went to the house of McKioney, who is going about on crutches from tbe effects of a cut 'foot, and began an assault on him. His wife attempted to assist him and was knocked down by one of them. A young man pass jog the road also came to the rescue and . was pounded for his pains. The assailants then fled, but afterwards spp ared befoie Justice Luce and plead guilty to assault and were fined. ' - Shot. On Saturday lust St. John Skin ner and Dr. A. I. Nicklin had some sort of misunderstanding which ended by the lat ter shooting tbe former with a small der ringer, tbe bullet striking and shattering the breast bone, penetrating about an inch, Tbe wound is not considered dangerous.
