SHOOTING AT BLODGETT S VALLEY- On last Monday morning a difficulty arose lct ween Amos Wood and John Hutchinson in Blodgett's valley, which resulted in toe latter haiun shot five times with a revolver. The facts as we gather them, are about as follows : Wood had fenced up an old road tint hid beau ne l by the neighbarhoal for a number of years, and on the morning in question Hutchinson came along the road, and finding the fence commenced pulling it it down, to pass through. Wood, being present, forbid his doing this and an alter cation ensued, in which Wood drew a pistol and Hutchinson a club. Hutchinson was shot in the right check, the ball ranging up wards and lodging against the temple, an other ball took elf -set in the left cheek, lodg ing under the eye, a third ball entered the right breast, a fourth inflicting a slight wound in the right arm, and the fifth enter ing the back part of the head. There were no persons present but the parties them selves. The wife and a brother of Woods Were at the house, a short distance away, and could see a part of the difficulty. Both parties claim that they were acting in self- defense. Hutchinson is still living with fair prospect of recovery. No arrest has been ma le. Wood was in Corvallis the day of the tragedy, and offered to submit him self to arrest. Fatal Accident. .From R. C. Martin the mail carrier between this city and Junc tion, we learn the following particulars of the sad fate of Mr. Orton, an old resident of Lane county, who ' was killed last Tuesday. Mr. Orton was harrowing in the field on his farm, about three miles this side of Junction City, driving 4 horses attacthed to a large harrow, the harrow caught on a bush and raised up and the horses making a quick start threw Mr. Orton under the teeth of the harrow, causing instant death. Mr. Orton was about 50 years old and has re sided in Lane County for more than twenty years, was a well to do farmer, respected by all who knew him. He leaves a family a son almost grown grown, being with him at the time of his untimely death. EsRiNoSA. It is a most, agreeable dressing, -which Is at once harmless and effectual, for pre serving the hair. It restores, with the gloss and freshness of youth, faded or gray, light, and red hair, to a rich brown, or deep black, as may be desired. By its use thin hair is thickened, and baldness often though not always cured. It checks falling of the hair immediately, and causes a new growth in all cases where the glands are not decayed; while to brashy, weak, or otherwise diseased hair, it imparts vitality and strength, and renders it pliable. The Vigor cleanses the scalp, cures and prevents the formation of dandruff; and, by its cooling, stimulating, and soothing properties, it heals most if not all of the humors aud diseases peculiar to the seal p, keeping it cool, clean, and soft, under which conditions diseases of the scalp and hair are impossible. As a Dressing- for Ladies' Hair, The Vigor is incomparable. It is color less, contains neither oil nor dye, and will not soil white cambric. It imparts an agreeable and lasting perfume, and as an article for the toilet it is economical and unsurpassed in its excellence. PREPARED BT Dr. J. C.
