Judge Whitaon of Lewiston, Idaho, was in
in oar city last Thursday night on his way
home from Boise City, where he had been
for some time past, in the discharge of his
duty as one o f the Supreme Judges o f Idaho.
The Judge is a genial gentleman, and well
liked by the people o f Idaho.
W. B. Morris, the Gen. Superintendent of
the K. W. Stage Company, called on us last
Saturday afternoon, ou his home, at Boise
City, from Portland, where be bad been on
business connected with the interests of his
company. Mr- Morris is o n o ’ ofth e most
correct and best business men on the Coast,
aud attends promptly and strictly to his own
business. We are pleased to ’ see that be is
in the enjoyment o f good health.
Capt. N. H. Millard, of Boise City, who was
at La Grande organizing a Chapter o f Royal
Arch Masons, wa* in our city for two or three
days last week, looking well and hearty.

Nelson’s Hall, ou to-morrow, Thursday,
evening, the proceeds o f which will be given

Ladies o f Baker will give a Thespian En­
tertainment, at Cleaver’s Hall, on next
Wednesday Evening, for the benefit o f the
Church in this city. The pieces will bs put
upon the boards in good style. • It is hoped
there will be a general attendance of the cit­
izens.

D ecided .— Our friend. Judge L. 0.8terns,
informs us that the case o f Man- C. White
against the Northwestern Stage Company,
which be commenced at the October Term
1672, of the Circuit Court for this county,
was decided in favor o f the plaintiff on the
10th inst. The defendants, by their Attorney
J. H. R<od, appealed to the Supreme Court,
from the decision o f Judgo McArthur. The
respondent, Miss White, was represented in
the appellate court by Messrs. L . O. Stems,
and Knight A Lord. Thus ends a hard
fought case.
Remember the Ball on next Monday even­
ing. It is given to aid the Pnblic School
Fund o f this Dietrict. Without money the
Teacher cannot he paid and the school must
he discontinued for the present. Our peo­
ple are liberal and all will buy a ticket,
whether they attend the dance or not.
