Among the recently patented in ventions is a water proof and water tight coffin. The first class hotels of New York are to reduce prices 15 per cent, af ter the 18th inst. It’s about time. New York has fourteen street beg gars who pretend to be blind, but who see as well as other folks. The costliest necklace in the Uni ted States is owned by a New York widow who is not worth $1,000 in cash. A Cleveland boy crawled under a lounge to avoid a whipping, went to sleep, and two hundred persons searched four hours to find him. A Philadelphia servant left in charge of the house fora week, clear ed the house of $7,000 worth of fur niture, and sold it for $050. A Cincinnati girl was married three times in one day to the same man, having a Methodist, Baptist and Universalist clergvman. During a recent gale at Cape Are- ton, a church was lifted to the height of thirty feet. It went, appropriate ly, toward the skies. A man who had been away from Lockport fifty years, returned the other day, and was surprised to fine that, the sun looked as natural as over. An Akron woman ran three miles after a moving passenger train, anc then became obstinate and sat down on the track and made all trains stop. A lead mine has been discovered in Banta Springs, Kansas, where sol id nuggets of four to seven tons are discovered within eight feet of the surface. M e m p h i s , Oct. 13.—A light frost this morning inspires new hopes.— There were very few new cuse3 re ported up to noon. An important feature in the rage of the epidemic is noticeable, and that is, that it soon runs its course. Many persons who were attacked a week ago are out on the street, while those attacked earl ier are still confined in their rooms.
