through Albany yesterday. Mr Friendly

Count Commissioner Pogh, of Shed J,
came to the city today to sit at the coun
ty court. This morning he received two
letters, be read one of them anl being
busy about something put the other in
bis pocket and read it after he got to
Albany. It was from Judg Duncan and
told him not to come down today.
Last Friday a yonng lady left Toronto,
Canada, for Corvallis, intending to make
Uiis city her future home. Sbe will be
met at the Portland depot tonight by Mr
Wra Bernhardt, the popular machinist
at the carriage factory and well, you
