this part of Oregon was visited by a snow
storm. About ten inches of the tiaky
whiteness fell, hut is now reduced to
slush hy the Chinook,
As far as this country is concerned,
the O P might ats well he in the Sahara
desert as to bo run and operated as at
present. The freight rates are ruinous
to the country as well as to the road.
The mills are all shut down because to
ship lumber from here to Albany it costs
about $2.80 per thousand. If the freight
rates were the same as two months ago
the road would have alt the lumber and
wood it rould handle.

Club, on New Years night, was well at
tended. There were parties from Lyons
