FRIDAY KOVEMBKK IS, 1881 Sept. 28, of this year, corn was shipped from Chicago to Baltimore at 4f cents per bushel There are now in store in the dif ferent warehouses of Chicago 7,000, 000 bushels of corn alone. Sheep provided with cotton-seed meal as an auxiliary feed are the best restorers of worn out pastures. The value of breadstuff's exported iora this country for the month of August amounted to $25,475,000. There are many sheep ranches in Humboldt County. Cal., of from 2000 to 6000 acres each. The county con tains over 1,500,000 ares of land and nearly 250,000 sheep. A pound of bones contains as much pnospnoric ncid as 100 pounds of wheat. Corn fodder is a valuable feed, and H used in connection with a nitrogen ous food, such as cottoa-seedj meal gives results which admit of Very fa' vorable comparison with those pro duced from good hay, using the prtces of eacn as a basis of comparison Com (wider if well cured is worth 60 per cent of the value of good hay, weight for weight. This is based upon result of feeding Hungarian hay and c0rn and f.idder, aleo sweet corn fodder and cabbages. There is generally a great mistake made by farmers in endeavoring to carry onH faraa with insufficient cap ital.
