Orejonl'in. a hrviTom it conruc ATio. The Tril'iinci Cincinnati ecLd says Gov. Williams' death causes a new Sen atorial complication in Indiana, am threatens to leave the - State without head and prevent the election of a Uni ted States Senator. The law requires that lieforo cither the Governor or Lieut.-Governor can ta'ie their seat the two houses must be organized. The Senate is a tie While Gray was Lieut. Governor he had the easting vote, as he had two veats ago ; but the death of Williams leaves the tie to be broken by defection from one m.1 or the other. The Deufocrals have determined, as heretofore, to organise the Senate, and will cling to their determination. . If each side stands firm'the Senate cannot organize, and without it neither Gover nor nor Lieut.-Govcrnor can take seat, and at the same time the constitu tion terminates the ofiico of acting Gov ernor on the second Monday of January, If the two sides of tho Senate lock horns and remain in that attitude the State can be kept indefinitely without a Governor. A United States Senator is to be elected to succeed Senator Mc Donald. It is claimed a U. S. Senator must be ebcttd at a stated time, and if the time gicsi by the Democrats say no legal election can be made by the pres ent Legislature, and th next they hope to fiiake Democratic. .r.. 7.j.F.ira ms ke:vi(t.s. Xuuu'ih i mi ELY HU.I. F HO. We are greatly plcmed to observe tho tono taken up i.i regard to tnv tlonnl politics since our clefont on tho 2d of Oetoler last, by our country Democratic exchanges. It In alto gether admirable, tnd If vigorously maintained, cannot fall ti have Its effect In strengthening tho hold which tho BemocnUIc faith has upon the peoplo of this Coast, ns hwn by the figures of tho Into contest. The Interior of this Btato 1ms for a long time bettor supported Democratic Journals than hits tho city, hut we have cause, In our own success, to bellovo that that period has passed and gone forever. It Is tho duty of every Democrat, whether residing Iu the city rr out of It, to subs.irilio for his own paper, especially when it supplies all the news. If Democrats do that, they will be promoting the causo they so thoroughly belle vo In, and In tho end will promote their own Individual prosperity. They will build up an ttblo and honest Democratic press, that will, at least, hold Us own with its opponent", and will In tho cud drive oomo of them to tho wall. If Democrati glvo their patronagu to their own papers, the balance that remains will not titppott as many -l?publi.ati organs ns nol xlnt, ami Homo or them wouul have In consequenco to succumb. That Is the plain, common sense, business way of putting tho case. Republican organs In this city havo almost mo nopolized both Democratic nnd Re publican patronage. Fully ono-hnlf ot tho newspaper supjort Is derived from Democrats. Let that go where it rightly belongs, and It will follow that there will bo fewer organs to lie about us, and those which reni'dn vill find It to their Interest t hv more considerate hi their statements. As things havo gone urt f r a long time, tho best n i of o party have been grossly misrepresented, our principles have often la-en niudc m appear the opposite of what they really were, tho great men of our party, all over tho country, hrve len wickedly maligned, and even the good they have accomplished In Con gress, and elsewhere, has been made to redound to the credit of our oj'po neuts, whu opposed it. In this con dition of thing, It Is really mnrvel ous that our party has held together as well as it bus. There mu-t Lb a strong, abiding confidence In tho soundness of Democratic principle In the minds of tho masses, or other wise tho Democratic: faith had been smothered under tho inad of misrep resentation to which It has been sub jected.
