We have been told the atory of the difficulties -of a n leu vounsr man "who loved not wisely but too well" and who visited his Inamorata residing not far from town on last Sunday evening. It was. late ,iu the afternoon when he reined his fiery charger in front of the domicile where dwelt the object of hi affection. .Mia name was Sweet; the zephyrs laden with the sweet odor of a thousand flowers, 4 played among his glossy locks; a feeling, sweet as the joys of Adieu peryaded his frame and caused hia heart to' beat "the devli'a "tattoo against his -boiled shirt bosom as he entered the abode of hia sweet Evangeline. The receptiou he met yritU would probably have caused oue less infatuated than Mr. Sweet to have doubted that his sweet sentiment was reciprocated by the sweet maiden who rose somewhat coolly to receive him. thing except his own sweet dream of love had posessiou of pur hero Sweet. He sat down and began to say sweet things to which the sweet -maiden pave answer in monosyllables but Mr. Street heeded not the distant manner tT lit iiihiTitrp4 t.,,ili,,- iHifiHiiil aud toJr. Sweet the fleeting hours were "lengthened sweetucss long drawn; out.". Night came , and Alt. Sweet's fine bright bay charger was turned out to grass in. the orchard. Morning dawuetl and that glossy steed had undergone a mysterious transfor mation since he last hailed the setting sun. Some demou of darkness, with brush and paint had converted him in to a n. is. -i able looking Appaloosa. He was ring streaked and striped to a horrible degree.- Air.- Sweet surveyed .him with a sweet smile which was at once "childlike and bland." He call ed for soap, water . an I a coarse towel which were. furnished and he began a series of rubbing and scrubbing but n'.l Jto tn purpose. The more he rubbe I and seruliletl the brighter and mire distiui't became- those horrid b!otch-s. Tu more he cued "out I;innieJ sK't the more the spots wouldn't out. Mr. Sweet became discouraged ami with a sweet submissiveness he saddled his apoaloosa and started for home seem ing to doubt which one of the boys he was. When last seen he was passing 'through town humming "Home. Sweet Jlome" in a sweet but somewhat mel ancholy tone and seeming to le sweet ly oblivious" of the boys halloing, "there goes Sweet on his spotted cayus?." - ' ; ' -Farmers' Jeetixo. Go and see their -wagons before you buy an Eastern vehicle and send your money out of the country. A Good Shot. A correspondent writing from .Lost JZiver says; Ou the 25th of 3ay seven pelicans lit in a small lake near my house when I fired ,00 ttieua with my rifle, killing four out of the seven at a single shot. The birds would each have measured seven feet from tip to the JJpof the wiugs and the shortest of - their bills measured fiftetu inches in leugth."
