The Escaped ..Nvs. As will bo

Edith O'Gorman, the Escaped Nun

on neit Jonday eveniag. -From the
extended and highly complimentary
notices of the press, both upon tho At

promising tills community more than
an average treat in her approaching
lecture. 8!c alastf weeTc lectured in

"Wednesday's Statesman alludes to
Miss O'Gorman in the following com

"The iady.is rather a vivacious little
lady, and her uiauuer on the stage is
prepossessing and secures the undivid

lustrations are well drawn ami her de
scriptions so perfoet that her hearers
can almost imagine themselves within
t he convent walK JAr gestures are
appropriate .ud her hurea.-ms Njf the

undiminished attention throughout."

and waits for the word "Kisc," when

".Hands axd IIeakts." The lec
ture delivered iu this city last Friday
evening, by ltcv. Xr. Lindsley, of
Portland, for tho benefit of the Ero
delphian Society of Albany College,
was received by a tolerably full house
and was highly appreciated. Dr.
Lindsley has a well modulated voice,
an easy and fluent articulation and a
prolific How of elegant language, and
all this coupled with a miud highly
cultivated and well stored with scien
tific and practical kuowledge, could
not fail to render his lecture a highly
instructive and an intensely Interest
ing one. We regret much that the au
dience was not more numerous, as well
for the credit of our city as for the
worthy cause for which the lecture
was delivered.
That Extekt.vixmekt. Tho en

crowded to its fullest capacity, and the

at a discount in this country. We be
