How royalty buries its dead may be
seen by the following description of
Prince Albert's mausoleum, reared by
tbe queen, at Windsor:
Beautiful as Windsor is, it has lost

wife has erected a magnificent mauso
leum in the home park, at a cost, defray
ed out of ber own purse, of ten thous
and pounds. The mausoleum is built
of eaenstone and is of a circular form,
with a portieo supported on granite pil
lars. Tbe walls are rich beyond descrip
tion with gold end decorative ornamen
tation, relieved with paintings by the
first modern masters. The floor is ot
tesseutea marble, in tbe center is a
splendid screen enclosing tbe sarcopha
gua in which lies the embalmed body of
the departed prince. Each day tbe
queen visits this place alqpe. Near the
tomb is placed a large deep basket filled
with wreathes of beautiful flowers. At
hand is a small round table on which
are a bible and a prayer book. 'From
these she reads and prays , fervently
kneeling the while. - Then she rises and
taking the wreathes, advances to the
sarcophagus, in the lid of which a small
sheet of plate glass is inserted, and
through which she can see the face and
form of the departed. But the efforts of
the embalmer has not been thoroughly
successful, and the features that were ed
beautiful in life are ia death marred by
discoloration. Still it is his face, shrun
ken and pallid though it be. Again
she prays thinking of the years of hap- j
piness she lived with him, long passed
away but never to be forgotten. She
stands gazing -there till she can gaze
do more for tears. Gently she places
the forget-me-nots upon the marble cof
fin, takes one last Iiogering look with
her dim eyes and slowly retires, while:

choly requiem for the idolized dead. '
A lighthouse-keeper, recently ap
pointed on the New Jersey coast, made
a redieulous blunder. Immediately af
