Harris- times are decidedly brisk burghs vTue town Is full of people, crowding thither to work on the great railroad bridge, or to "turn a penny" by boarding and lodging the workmen and artisans who will be engaged upon that structure. Hands are already at work clearing away the site of the bridge and preparing the ground for the reception of the timbers and fix tures. Mr. Robinson, of Harrisburg, has received the contract of boarding 150 brtdgeniechanlcs, at $5 per week ach, and is erecting a large edifice for that purpose near the scene of the "coming" .bridge. . During the warfc while one of the Iowa regiments was encamped at Rolla, Missouri, the wife of a Colonel of the regiment had been out visiting some acquaintances, and attempted to pass the sentinel I coming into camp to her husband's quarters, after dark., She was passing the, sentinel with head proudly erect and pannier defiantly ele vated, when the vigilant guardian of the camp commanded her to halt ani propounded the usual question of '.'who goes there?" "Why," said the indig nant female, drawing herself proudly up and casting a withering glance up on the common soldier, "don't you know me. sir? I'm the Colonel's fa tly!" To this apparent "crusher" the faithful sentinel promptly replied: "I don't carjj a d n, madam! if you were the Colonel's wife you couldn't pass here without giving the countersign!"
