. see JUNE 10, 1870. DEMOCRATIC OBEGOK. i The election is past, the . harvest ia ended, and Oregon ia saved. The re turns are slowly coming' in, but suffi cienfc is known to 'assure' us of . the Complete success of the Democratic EtaW ' ticket' ly 'majorities ranging from 100 to 800, together with a hand some working majority in both branch es of the State Legislature, and three of the fire Judges of the Supreme Court, i r Douglas .county, heretofore Bepnblicaa, wheels into line with 50 Democratic majority, while Polk and Josephine gire us handsome gains orer their; former majorities. In Washington, the JJtadiqal majority is reduced nearly one-half, and it is re ported that the Democracy hate elects-one member of the Legislature and a Sheriff in that county. In Yam hill the Democrats came so near win ning the day that they will contest the election, and, from the number of il legal and fraudulent Totes which are known to hare been polled by the Re publicans, they hare strong hopes of securing a part of their ticket. By the most shameless trickery and bri bery Multnomah county has been cap tured by the enemy, but our gains elsewhere throughout the State will more than compensate for that loss, Coos, Curry and Grant are yet to-hcar from, but the returns from those counties' cannot possibly affect the result either in the State or tare. An account of the most diabolical affair ever record ed is published in the Fort Scott, Km., Monitor. On Tuesday May 10, seven men, either strangers or straggling outlaws from Indian territory, came to the town of Ladore, a few miles 8outh of here. After drinkinx all day X. Roach, and asked to stay all night. Being refuged on account of their drunken condition, tbe party knocked Roach insensible with a revolver, and then went to tbe bed occupied by the two daughters of Roach, aged 12 and 11 years, and raviahed them during tbe entire night, using a knife to ac complish their purpose. Roach re vived after a time, but feared - to stir. knowing ho would be killed if he did. He discribes the cries and entreaties of the girls as heart-fending. A quar rel arose among the demons and one was shot dead while satisfying binlunt. At daybreak tbe party fled, one taking with him to the woods the youngest girl. The town wm.' immediately aroused, and parties started in very direction in search of the fiends. The one with the girl was soon overtaken, and hung to a tree. Two others were found secreted in, town, and were hung to the same tree. Tbe remain ing three were also captured. Two of them were hung, The other one, at last accounts, was in cuhtoJy of the citizens, but will probably share the fate of his companions. The univer sal verdict here is that, in this instance at least, summarsy manner of nflict ing punishment ts entirely justified, v niSt'ELLAXfc'oL'H ( XEirfiJ ,' ' The California Old Fellows have rca' olved to exfablixh Udd Fullowa, Culleoa.
