The clauses of disfranchisement and ineligi bility tu hold ofJce are to be submitted to n separate vote ; also, the portion of tho test nth in article 12, and the clause prohibit ing loaning tho credit of the State in aid of toy association of corporation. Attorney General Hoar has decided that tho commencement of tho main line of the Pacific Railroad is at the one hundredth i icridian of longitude west from Greenwich, terminates at the Eastern boundary of Cali fornia. Ono of the colored churches in Alexandria Iield a meeting on Monday to see what should le done with the church members w ho voted the Conservative ticket at the recent election. The Church Treasurer was among tho offend ers, and ho was removed from his office. A Jong and exciting debate ensued on the ques tion of turning all the offenders uut of the Church. Action was not reached. W. Ford, of Mississippi, was hero on be half of tho Conservative Republicans of that Stnte. Gen. Sherman this morning received as surance that tho administration in Missis sippi will be impartial. The military offi cers who conducted the registration for the election in Virginia will be ordered to Miss issippi for duty. Southern Labor Convention. Mtsirnis, July 13. Tho Chinese Labor Convention met to-day. Governor J. G. Harris of Tennessee, was chosen permanent chairman. A telegram was received announ cing that Koapmanshop would arrive to morrow, whereupon the convention udjourn ed to ten o'clock to-morrow. Memphis, July 14. The Labor Conven tion met at 'Wallack's. The audience was large, chiefly planters and land owners of the neighboring States. The finance Committee reported in favor of a joint s.tock emigration 6ociety, with of ficers at the principal cities, promising wel come and protection to all emigrants from China and elsewhere. The Transportation Company reported that emigrants can be brought from the Pacific States to Memphis, in lots of 500 and over. $.300 each ; fnmi Hongkong to San Francisco for 60 to J 100 each. Or Rem Orr, a Chinaman, 21 years in tho country residing in Ljuixana, adrcssed the Convention. He stated that over 5,(KX) Chinese are now in the West Indies. Much distress prevails because they were rtot se lected with proper care. lie proceeded t describe the habits and pvuliarities of the Chinese. He thought them well adapted to southern plantations, the products of China being in many ways similar to those of the Southern States. Koopuianscbap also ad dressed the Convention, stating that his bouse brought 30,000 Chinese t California where 60,000 are now engaged in general railroad work. They were paid ninety cents to the dollar and ten cents per day, in gold, as Ifllvirpr- and run f, iiu1riffti tr -im here for $20 per month ; but they can be ob tained much cheaper in China. Under a fifteen year's contract they can be had at $10 to $12 per month. The Convention adjourn ed until to-morrow. Indian Trouble. Chicago, Juiy 14. An Omaha special says Gen. Auger has received dispatches froia Gen. Carr, with the espeditijn'on the Republican river, to the 11th inst. A large village of Cheyenne was taken by surprise and fifty warriors, commanded by" Tall Bull, were taken. Seventeen women and children were captured, among them Tall Hull's wife and daughter. The warriors held two white women, enrpturei on the Saline river, as prisoners. They morderei one, name unknown, and attempted to murder an other by the name of Maria Weigel. She will probably recover. The Indians were Bocampletely furprisel that they were "un able to carry off a single package. They left most of their saddles and provisions. Carr captured 350 horses and mules, 8 lodges, 0 rifles and pistols, and a number of camp eq uipages. Great Flood at Paola. Liavex worth, Jnly 18. Special dispatches from Columbia, Texas, says the Colorado river is higher than ever known before. The water rose 47 feet 8 inches. It is now fall ing slowly. The whole vallev is under wa ter.- Crops are destroyed, and the railroad between Alleytown and Columbus is washed away for several hundred yards, and num bers of persons have been drowned below Columbus.
