It is the first brick residence erected in the city, and Mr. G. has exercised great taste in its plan and construction. Being a first-class brick-mason himself, the work has been done . under his own supervision and direction, and the unique and imposing appearance of the Structure is a fitting monument to hja taste and handicraft. It will be decidedly the finest residence in the city when completed. - C. C. Godley & Son are erecting a frame building of capacious dimensions (50x36 ft.) on the sorner of First and Washington streets, which tbey design occupying as a tin and store e tors as soon as completed-which will be in three or four weeks.' The building is two skries high, the upper part comprising two halls, each half the width and thj entire length of th MMIng- Amcng other improvements we obserre that our energetic Road Supervisor, Mr. Waiter Ketchum, has made some excellent and much needed improvements on the streets and roads in and around Allany. Eisgrau, 15 years of age, and clerk in Moore, Garst k Eaber's store at Karrisburg, was drowned in the Willame Aa at that place on the 13th inst. It seems that he, in company with Dr. Bell, rode into the river in a baggy for the purpose of washing the wheels, but, getting into deep water, the vehicle capsized, and young Eis graa waf; carried away by the swift current. C, South, died near Albany, last Monday, very suddenly. A post mortem ex amination was held by our physicians, and it was ascertained that his death was occa sioncd by effusion of serum into the cavity of the pleura.
