Tirt peculiar taint or Infection which wo call Scrotclx lurkt In tlic constitution! of multitude of men. It cither produce or ia produced by an en- ..i.l ::...! ..... (ticvuicu) i nuucu siaio of tho blood, wherein fall into disorder and decny. The scrofulous contamination is va riously caused hy mercurial disease, low living, disordered digestion from unhealthy food, impuro air, filth and filthy habits, tho depressing vices, and, abovo all, by tho venereal infection. Whatever bo its origin, it is hereditary in tho constitution, descending " from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation ; " indeed, it seems to be the rod of llim who says, 44 1 will risit tho iniquities of tho fathers upon their Cliildren.n Tho diseases it originates take various names, according to the organs it attacks. In tho lungs. Scrofula produces tubercles, and finally Consumption; in tho glands, swellings which suppurate and be. come ulcerous sores; in the stomach and bowels, derangements which produce indi gestion, dyspepsia, and liver complaints ; on the 6kin, eruptive and cutaneous affections. These, all having the same origin, require tho same remedy, viz., purification and inrigora tion of the blood. Purify the blood, and these dangerous distempers leave you. With feeble, foul, or corrupted blood, you cannot have health; with that l4lifo of the flesh" healthy, you cannot have scrofulous disease. Ayera Sarsaparilla is compounded from the most effectual anti dotes that medical science has discovered for this afflicting distemper, and for the cure of the disorders it entails. That it is far supe rior to any other remedy yet devised, is known by all who have given it a trial. That It does combine virtues truly extraordinary in their cflect cpon this class of complaints, is indisputably proven by the great multitude tf publicly known and remarkable cures it lias made of the following diseases : King's Evil, cr Glandular Bwellirgs, Tumors, Eruptions, Pimples, Blotches and Sores, Erysipelas, Ecse cr St Anthony's Fire, Salt Rheum, Scald Head, Coughs from tuberculous deposits in the lungs, White Swellings, Debility, Dropsy, Neuralgia, Dyspepsia or Indigestion, Syphilis and Syphilitic Infections, Mercurial Diseases, Female Weaknesses, and, indeed, the whole series of complaints that arise from impurity of the blood. Minute reports of individual cases may be found in Ateb's Ameeicas Almakao, which is furnished to the druggists for gratuitous distribution, wherein may bo learned the directions for its use, and some of the remarkable cures which it has made when all other remedies had failed to afford relief. Those cases are purposely taken from all .sections of the country, in order that every reader may have access to somo one who can speak to him of its benefit from personal experience. Bcrofula depresses the ital energies, and thus leaves its victims far more subject to disease and its fatal results than are healthy constitutions. Hence it tend to shorten, and does greatly shorten, the average duration of human life. The rast importance of those considerations has led us to spend years ia perfecting a remedy which is adequate to its cure. This we now offer to the pullic under the name of Ater's Sarsaparilla, although it is composed of Ingredients, tome cf which exceed the best of SartcporiHa in alterative power. By its aid you mny protect yourself from the f uffer Ing and danger of these disorders. Purge cut the foul corruptions that rot and fester in the blood, purge out the causes of disease, and rigorous health will follow. By its pecu liar Tirtues this remedy stimulates the vital functions, and thus expels the distempers which lurk within the tysteui or burst out on any part of it. We know the public have been deceived by many compounds of Sarsaparilla, that promised much and did nothing; but they will neither be deceived nor disappointed m tliis. lu virtues have been proven by abun dant trial, and there remains no question of its surpassing excellence for the cure of the afflicting diseases it is intended to reach. Although under the same name, it is a very different medTnine from any other which has been before the people, and is far more ef fectual than any other which has ever been available to them. CHERRY PECTORAL, The World's Great Bemedy for Coughs, -Colds, Incipient Con sumption, and for the relief of Consumptive patients in advanced stages of the disease. This has been so long used and so uni versally known, that we need do no more than assure the public that its quality is kept up to the best it ever has been, and that it may be relied on to do all it has ever done. lrepared by Dr. J. A CASE CF GLEET ASH 8TBICTCKES. Dr. Dobcrtv Dear Sir : I feel my health so ful- ly removed that, in common gratitude, I believe I should make you some written acknowledgment for vonr valnable services particularly so as your fee was small for the work performed. I arrived iu this city from the East ahont one year ago, and was then suffering from an old case of Gleet, complicated with stricture. Being a stranger in thi city, and believing those doctors who gave such positive assurances of success wcra necessarily the best, (some of whom have a large number of titb-s) I placed myself in their charge, nnd continued under their treatment until I Lad lost nearly all hope and considerable sum of money. I nth to say now tbat you are the sixth doctor I have employed, and the only one that baseverdona me any service. 3fy. Gleet is wholly cured, tha - stricture is ail removed, ar.d my general health is better than it has been for years. In conclusion I wocld say to the many unfortunates who require medical advice, if yon have any doubt as to whom you may employ, ask Dr. Doherty for my address snd call and sec me. (I ecp store in this city.) My experience may save yon many dollars. I would also add that in the early stage of my dis ease, I used a large amount of the preparations ad vertised as an infallible cure lor Wonorrtioea, Gleet. etc., but never derived auy benefit irom them. - I am, Doctor, very truly yours, L II . For many years I hava been afflicted with that fearful di.-ease known as "I'Crmatorrhoea;" or Seminal Weaknesses, the rt-snlt of self-abuse, but till 1S55 experienced but li;t!e trouble or inconvenience. Iu that year, howevir, I had StiaiBal Weakness to an alarming csttnt, which was soon fallowed by the mot ularmicg symptoms, as weskness of the back and limbs, pains in the Lead, dimness of Tision, ncrv-' onsin-ss and general debility. 3Iy mind, tto, was afflicted to such an extent as to seriously impair -my memory ; my ideas were confuted and spirits depressed. I was averse to society, had eil fT- ' bonings and sulf distrust, and wits entirely unfit- ; ted for uny of the duties cf life. Fn u lSjj to tho summer of 1?63. I tmploycd the Terr best medical talent I could find, and spent several hundred dol lars, bnt in no instance obtained more than tem p rary relief. I had about concluded there was ' no relief for me in this world, but seeing Dr. Do- ; herty's advertisement, I thought I should call and si-e him. as be cLargod nothing for consultation. I had an interview with the Doetor, and his fee for tieatmeut was so reasonable, I determined to try him. though I did cot expect much benefit from his treatment. On the dih of "Dtecmber last I placed myself under his care; in ane week I found , myself very much improved, and now, after fiva weeks treatment, 1 feel myself thoroughly cured of all my troubles and in the enjoyment of the best health. Hoping that my experience may ba of benefit to others similarly afflicted, I snbseribs myself - JAMES JOHNSTON. Subscribed an sworn to before me, this 15th day f January, 1S64. l. s. " A. G.
