The peculiar taint or infection which wo call Sceofvla lurka in the constitutions of multitudes of men. It either produces or ii . v. . rjXt-f-feebled, vitiated elate "f "'"WT 1 1) 'ie M0( wherein I:. Jcompetent to sustain rthe tital forces in their virrnrnus Action, and leaves the system to ' fall into disorder and decay. The scrofulous contamination Is va riously caused by mercurial diseaselow living, disordered digestion from unhealthy food, impure air, filth and flitny Habits, the depressing vices, and, above all, by the venereal infection. "Whatever bo its origin, it is hereditary in tho constitution, descending "from parents to cliiidren unto the third and fourth poneration indeed, it ecems to be the rod of Him who says, " I will Tisit the iniquities of the fathers upon their children." Tho diseases it originates take various names, according to the organs it attacks. In the lungs, Scrofula produces tubercles, and finally Consumption; in tho glands, swellings whiglt suppurate and be come ulcerous euros; in tue eiomacn ana bowels, derangements which produce indi- trcsuon, dyspepsia, and liver complaints : on the skin, eruptive and cutaneous affections. These, all having the same origin, require tho canie remedy, viz., purification and invigora tion of the blood. Purify the blood, and these dangerous distempers leave you. With feeble, foul, or corrupted blood, you cannot have health: with that "life of the flesh" healthy, you cannot have scrofulous disease. Ayer's Sarsaparilla Is compounded from the most effectual anti dotes that medical science has discovered for this afflicting distemper, and for tho cure of tho disorders it entails. That it is far supe rior to any other remedy yet devised, is known by all who have given it a trial. That it does combine virtues truly extraordinary in their effect upon this class of complaints, is indisputably proven by the great multitude f pubucly known and remarkable cures it lias made of the following diseases : King's Evil, or Glandular Swellings, Tumors, Eruptions, Pimples, Blotches and Sores, Erysipelas, Rose or St. Anthony's Eire, Salt Rheum, Scald Head, Coughs from tuberculous deposits in the lungs, White Swellings, Debility, Dropsy, Neuralgia, Dyspepsia or Indigestion, Syphilis and Syphilitic Infections. Hercurial Diseases, Female Weaknesses, and, indeed, the whole series of complaints that arise from impurity of the blood. Junuto reports of individual cases may be found in Atek's AwEniCAX Aluaxac, which is furnished to the druggists for gratuitous distribution, wherein may be learned the directions for its use, and tome of the remarkable cures which it has made when all other remedies had failed to afford relief. Those cases arc rurposcly taken from all sections of the couutxj, in order that every reader may have access to some one who can speak to him of its benefits from personal experience. Scrofula depresses the vital energies, and thus leaves its victims far more subject to disease and its fatal results than are healthy constitutions. Hence it tends to shorten, and does greatly shorten, the average duration of human bfe. The vast importance of these considerations has Jed us to spend years in perfecting a remedy which is adequate to its cure. This we now offer to the public under the name of Ateb s Sahsapariixa, although it is composed of ingredients, some of which exceed the best of iyarsavariUa in alterative power. Br its aid you mr.y protect yourself from the suffer ing and danger of these disorders. Purge out the foul corruptions that rot and fester in the blood, purge out tho causes of disease, and vigorous health will follow. By its pecu liar virtues this remedy stimulates the vital functions, and thus expels the distempers which lurk witliin the system or burst out on any part cf it. A e know t':e rublic liave lccn deceived. by many conqKmnds of HarsapariUa, that promised much and um nothing; but tney will neither be deceived nor disappointed in this. Its virtues have been proven by abun dant trial, and there remains no question of ita surpassing excellence for the cure of the afflicting diseases it is intended to reach. Although under the same name., it is a very different medicine from any other width has been before the people, and is far more ef fectual than any other which has ever been available to them. .."STjEIVS CIIEH11Y PECTORAL, Tho World's Great Bemedy for Coughs, Colds, Incipient Con eumption, and for tno relief of Consumptive patients in advanced stagos of tho disease. This hns been so long used and so uni versally known, that we need do no more than assure the public that its quality is kept up to tho best it ever has been, and that it luay be relied on to do all it has ever done. ' A CASE or GLEET ASS ITRICTCKES. Dr. Doherty Dear Sir : I feel my health so ful ly restored tb at, in common gratitude, I believe I should make yon some written acknowledgment for your valuable services particularly so a your fee was small for the work performed. I arrived in this eity from tl.e East a boat on year ago, and was then snSering from an old eaee of Gleet, complicated with stricture. Being . at stranger in this city,-and believing those doctor who gave snch positive assurance of success were necessarily the best, (some of whom have a large number of titles) I placed myself in their charge, and continued under their treatment until I had lost nearly ail hope and considerable (urn of money. I wish to say now that yon are the sixth doctor I have employed, and the only one that ha ever done me any service. My. Gleet is wholly cured, tho stricture ia all removed, and ray general health i better than it ha been for years. In conclusion J would say to the many unfortunates who reqair medical advice, if you have any doubt as to who you may employ, ask Dr. Doherty for my address and call and see me. (I i(p store, in this eity.) My experience may save yon many dollars. I would also add that in the early stage of my die ease. I used s large amount of the preparations ad- vertised as an infallible cure for Gonorrhoea, Gleet, etc., but never derived any benefit from them. I am, Doctor, very truly yours, L- II , San Francisco, June 16, 1864. Subscribed and sworn to before me this 31ii day of Junes, 1S6L A. S. GOULD, : l s. Notary Public. . SEMISAL WEAKSTSS A 8WOK3C TO CEKTTFCATB Of MOST REMARKABLr CUBE OF SFERW ATOBRHCEA. A desire to benefit humanity, and a feeling of gratitude to Dr. W. K. Doherty, alone induces me to make this statement. For many year I have been afflicted with that fearful disease known a '-Spermatorrhoea;' or Seminal Weaknesses, tho result of self-abuse, but till 1855 experienced but little tronble or inconvenience. In that year, however, I had Seminal Weakness to an alarming extent, which was soon fallowed by the moat alarming symptoms, as weakness of the back and limbs, pains in the head, dimness of vision, nerv ousness and general debility, lly mind, too, was afflicted to such an extent as to seriously impair my memory : my ideas were confused and spirit depressed. I was averse to society, had itU fore- bonings and st ir distrust, and was entirely unat ted for any of the duties ef life. From 1355 to the summer of 1863, 1 employed the verr best medieal talent I eould find, and spent several hundred dol lar?, but in no instance obtained more than tem porary relief. I had about concluded there vu no relief for me in this world, but seeing Dr. Do herty's advertisement, I thought I should call and see him, as ho ehargod nothing for consultation. I had an interview with the Doctor, and his fee for treatment was so reasonable, I determined to try him. though I did not expect much benefit from his treatment. On the Mh of December last I placed myself under his care; ia ane week I found myself very much improved, and now, after five weeks treatment, 1 feel myself thoroughly cured of all my troubles and in the enjoyment of the best health. Hoping that my experience may be of benefit to others similarly afflicted, I subseri myself JAMES JOHNSTON. Subscribed an sworn to before me, this lath day of January, 1S64. t l . A. G.
