A letter from Priueville to the Dalle Mountaineer gi ves .the following items of iu- . terest: "The mining fever still glows with a steady flame. I guess that there is no- longer any doubt as to there being plenty of gold and silver here. The only question Is can it be found in stiflicient quantities to- pa' to work. There appears to be a broad1 belt that assays $0 to $35. Almost any of the dirt will show traces ot silver, but none of it big. that is, over $50, but there" has been no prospecting at all done yet to amount to anything, but undoubtedly tliero are some very rich veins somewhere, and when they are struck I think Camp Creek will be the richest mines ever found."' A letter from the same place to the Dalle Tribune has this to say ot the prospective mines : "Tho truth is that there has been but one haft started, and that by Mr. Web dell on the Greenhorn ledge, which l probably been lowered to the depth of twenty or thirty feet, while the best assay yet made was $600, and the best average on any claim taking the different assays to gether, was $50. But you must mind that these were obtained from tho surface. Xo one has yet even tried to prospect their claim; all are waiting until miners will come and they expect to sell to them. There will be the liveliest times hero Juaip- tn claims ever heard of. There are bom persons that have from fiitoeu to forty claims located, that have never worked them and never intend to, as they took them up to sell." j Uncle Jerry Driggs, of Seattle. Is in the city.
