A train in India recently encoun tered a herd of elephants that were ad vancing along the. track. There was a trcmenduous concussion, the ele phant was knocked off to one side, rantilated ami writhing, and the train after a series of violent jolts, which nearly threw it oT the line, came to a standstill against the bodies of two other animals of the herd.
