Extensive Bobberies in Ecoene. 1
About 3 o'clock on Monday morning the
Methodist parsonage at Eugene City was
entered and about eight dollars and the
watch of the pastor, Rev. I. Wilson, taken.
An entrance was effected into tlie parson
age through a window. One of the bur
glars made his appearance in the bedroom
where Mr. Wilson and wife were sleeping,
and making a slight noise in rummaging
through a stand hear the head of tlie bed,
awakened the occupants. Mr. Wilson rose
up in bed, whilst Mrs. Wilson gave a plerc.
ing shriek that startled tlie burglar aud
erased him to decamp Instanter ; but he re
turned I most instantly, and presenting a
revolver threatened instant death if any
disturbance was made. Tlie burglar was a
desperate looking rascal, aud not knowing
how many burglars there were In the
house, Mr. W. thought best to keep quiet.
The burglars ransacked Friendley's resi
dence, near the parsonage, the same night,
but didn't succeed in getting anything val
uable beyond a good supper. They visited
trie residence ot Dr. Nicklin, just across
the street, where they secured a watch and
a $20 greenback. Nine residences, in all,
were visited on the night in question, but
the amount obtained won't make million
aires ot them. At last accounts no arrests
bad been made. When burglars get to
robbing parsons, we may look out for our
churches and gi a veyards. If those rascals
are making their way down the valley we
hpe some one will set the whole kit and
bilin' up in the lead mine business.
