A 'Remarkable Cask. Last
week a child of Antonio Days, who
resides at the Easterby farm went
out in the garden, and, childlike,
ate a lot ot green beans and green
watermelons. The child was sub
sequently attacked with a severe
diarrhea, or more probably cholera
SO infantum Tcailinft tn anVird tha
child any relief the lather determined
to summon a physician. Dr. Coley
was accordingly called, and last
Sunday morning the child died, or
at least it was so supposed. Pre
parations were immediately made
for its burial, and that afternoon,
between five and six o'clock, the
child was taken to the cemetery for
interment At the grave the coffin
was opened, and it was observed
that the child's forehead was heavily
covered with perspiration, and its
body warm, and the joints limber.
The appearances that life was not
extinct were so very strong that the
idea was seized upon by many that
it was a case ot suspended anima
tion, and accordingly the burial pro
ceedings were suspended and the
child brought to town, and was
carefully watched through the night
by svmpathiaing friends. In the
evening two physicians examined
the body and concurred in pronounc
ing it dead. On Monday morning
the distressed father and his friends
were compelled to acknowledge the
stern reality, and accordingly the
little one was again taken to the
cemetery and there deposited in its
final resting place. Fresno Ex

The Vicarof Richmond, England,
crested some excitement in his par
ish by building a high wall in the
church yam so as to separate the
elect dead from the Non-conformist
dead. The friends of the latter
rallied, and tore down the wall, and
an ecclesiastical court has prohibited
him from rebuilding it. A common
foot-path now, as heretofore, divides
the "Dissenting" dead from the
"Established" dead.
