Quite a number of the members ot the Lodge ot I.O.O.F. at Lebanon, vfi'cd Albany Lodge No. 4 on Wednesday evening. It was a most interesting occasion to ail. Arrested. On Tuesday, at Port land, SherirTParker, of this county, ar rested Harding Dawson, charged with incest upon his half-sister, a resident of this city. Sheriff Parker, accom panied by his prisoner, arrived in this city on Wednesday. On Thursday Dawson was brought before Justice Carothers for a preliminary examina tion. The complaining witne:s, Mrs. Backus, tcstiiled that A. H. Dawson had had partial connection, by force, with her. about ten months since. Dr. Jones testified that pregnancy might be accomplished by partial con nection ; that it had been accomplished by artificial means. Dawson was held to bail in.the sum of $1,000 to answer at the nest term of the Linn County Circuit Court for the crime ot incest. ON Tuesday In the Circuit Court for Multnomah county, Charles Mcaley was granted' a elu.ngc of venue to Linn county his nome. The trial will probably not come oir until next March. . Concert. Information wanted of David Harvey, of County Down, Ireland. Last heard from was in Al bany, Oregon. Judges of Election. -On Tuesday evening the City Council appointed Messrs. Walter Ketehum, David Thompson and Geoio Patterson to aerve as Judges of Electron at the pel's on Monday, December 1st. 1873. The Comity Treasurer's office, in the Court House, f selected as the plaoe in which to hold the said election. HONOKAULT ACCTlTTiCD. On Wcd rle'day, Sheriff Scott, of Marion coun ty, arrested Mr. R. 8. Owen, of this county, on charge of burglary, prefer red by a citizen of Marion county. Owen accompanied Scott to Salem, and on Wednesday evening had an exam ination before his honor, Jesse John son, of that city. The result of the .examination was the complete vindi cation of the character of Mr. Owen, and his consequent discharge. liVwr rniisiiED. A vounir man named Mark Ward, bralesman on the O. & C. Railroad, on Thursday, while attempting to jump on a car when flie train was in motion at the depot in this city, missed connection, and fell no that one wheel of a car passed over his foot. The boot in which said foot was encased was rudely fom and smashed to pieces, but, Rtrange to say. the foot escaped serious injury, al though pretty badly bruised. Such escapes inclines one to believe in the old adage : It's better to be born lucky than rich. Later We have learned, cinee writing the above, that tic acci dent is more serious than at fkst sup posed; that the foot was badly crushed, three bones being fractured. His phy tld aus think the foot can be saved. Badly Burned. The wife of Al bert Bond, who resides near Scio, was terribly burned, some days since, un der the following circumstances : Feel ing unwell she lay down belore the fire and went to sleep, and while in this position her clothing was ignited by falling coals, and before she could extricate herself from them, were burned completely from her body, burning even her under garments. The Salem Mercury says that although her life was at first despaired of, she is now in a fair way of recovery. Benton county's Sheriff Came down to this city cn Thursday and arrested Wra. Brown, ex-City Watch man, charged with arresting, some two months since, a party in Benton county and bringing him to this city without the proper authority in such cases provided. IARA( ItAMLETS. No. Sand in the river. Personal. Dr. Alexander made his appearance in the city yesterday. He is still pale and weak from hU re cent illness. Mr. Walter Montekh is about again after his serious illness. Judge Mosher was in the city the fiVst of the week. Frank Wood is on hand with a new invoice of Seed Drills. See 'em. Mr. Osborne, a typo, late of the Dalles, called on Thursday. Some twelve or thirteen vessels re ported at Portland, all to be loaded for foreign parts. We aae informed that there are thir teen candidates for the office of City Marshal at the coming election. We saw a man walking off with two sacks on lifs shoulder, cri Friday, in which were forty-five thousand dollars in "20s. We had no shot-gun. Good buttar is scarce at 25c per pound, while eggs readily sell at 35c per dozen. Wheat is scugut after at $1 per bushel. The Odd Fellows at Lebanon pro pose to have a good time tLiis evening, and hvitc tie brethren elsewhere to come and participate with them. The Firemen's Bail, to be given in this city oa New Years evs, will be a ruslier. The boys arc making every preparation to make it a complete success. Wr.i. Poe, arrested last wee!:, charged with the crime of Incest, is said to he the father of nine children. He says e will make no defeuse before the Court for the crime. Democratic c'.ty convention meets on next Frktey evening. Friday is a very unlaeky day, and will doubtless prove so to tlie ticket nominated on that action. We have seeured no turkey this time Tor thanksgiving dinner, as everybody Intends going (to the Opera House on that occasion, it'll save a mighty sight of trouble and be so much more picas anter. Young Ward, whose foot was crush ed on Thursday last, was more severely hurt than at first supposed. The foot was badly erased, three bones across the centre of the foot being fractured. Drs. Rice and Boughton were called and properly dressed the foot, and re port thri, with proper attention and care, a few weeks will see it healed and ready for use. Passed. At a meeting of the City Council yesterday, an ordinance grant ing the right of way through the city to the Albany & Santiam Canal Com pany, was passed. Terrible. On Tuesday Mr. I. N. Miller, of Waldo Kills, Marion county together with his son, was out hunt ing. The son, hearing a noise in the brush and thinking he saw game with in range, raised his gun and fired. That shot struck the father and in flicted a fatal wound, from the effects of which he died on Thursday. De ceased had been a resident of Waldo Hills about two years, and was highly respected by his neighbors. Jake Sprenger is to run the big hotel in Walla Walla, W. T. SPECIAL CABLE DISPATCH. .
