ALBANY REGISTER. Max Married to a Mas, One of the most remarkable divorce cases on record lias been begun, and is to be tried at the August term of the Macoupin Couuty Circuit ( mrt. The parties have lived together far seventeen years, known to the world as husband and wife. T he reputed husband now tiles a bill, alleging the so-called marriage to have taken place in .Macoupin county in isoo, and praying tor a divorce on the ground that the person to whom he was then formally mar ried is uot a woman, although pre vious to and at the time of said reputed marriage he was induced to balieve the persou aforesaid to be a woman. If the allegations of the bill and outside parties are true, the trial will show the extraordinay case of two men having lived to gether for this long period of time, in the character of husband and wile, au Instance, hi other words, in which a natural eunuch has been able to personate the female char acter, and such as to go through the solemn external forms of mar riage, and then to continue for many years to deceive ueigiibors, ami even intimate friends, as to his real sex, The complaint alleges that his ignorance of the laws of tin's country," he being a German, the advice of supposed competent parties, prevented him from tiling a bill for release long ago from the bondage of this pseudo-marriage. As the parties have accumulated considerable property, it will be a point of great interest for the Court to decide upon its equitable divis ion, in case of a dissolution of the curious co-partnership. " Eli Perkins " gets off a good one on Governor Hoffraan. At Sara toga, the other day, the Governor was laboring with a Democratic banker who wouldn't swallow Greeley. The banker protested Horace was a big overgrown child. " Hut," interrupted the Governor, " I think Mr. Greeley is a pretty good judge of men. I think he can pick out an honest man or a knave as piick as any one. I " ' Why, there is just where he is always the biggest fool," continued Mr, Jieekman. " Never mind," said the rov truer, " I would take his opinion on a man to be true quicker, than I would take any man's in the country." " You would ?" said Mr I5eek man, feeling in a side pocket. " Yes, I would," said the Gov ernor firmly. " Well, here is a little slip where lie calls you a mountebank and a corrupt, dishonest and swindling Democratic villain," said 3ir. lJeek man, as he handed an old Tribune, editorial to the Governor. The Governor read it over twice, then looked as if he was trying to see straight through Mr. Deekman, a row of carriages and a two-foot brick partition then slammed down his hat and went up stairs. Nervous children suffer untold agonies from fear when put to ld alone. No tongue can tell the hor rors of a lonesome room to such children. A little delicate boy, whom his parents were drilling to sleep alone, used to cry violently every night, and his father would come iu and whip him. He mis took his pertinacity for obstinacy, and he thought it his duty to con quer the child's will. One night he said : " Why do you always scream so, when you know you will be punish ed?" " Oh, father, father ! " said the little fellow, " I don't mind you whipping me, if you only stay with me " - The father's eyes were opened from that moment. He saw that a human being could not be gov erned by dead rules, like a plant or an animal. DR. T. L. OEES, ((enlist and Aurlst, Albany, Oregon. DR. OOLDEX IS A son of the noted old qpthalmic doctor.
