The stage was most beautifully decorat ed with evergreens, pictures, etc. The exercises consisted of vocal and instrumental mu-ie, charades, dia logues, essays, deel.-Mii ition-, etc. The principal ptrformcr were Mr. aijd Mra.Leesen, teachers of Ilalsey, Jo-lfn, Jama? and Jennie Pearl, .Tolm -Glass, T. Powell, J. Wilburn. Mrs. Mansfield, Sarah Deal, Milton Wilson, and others of the sehoDl who took subordinate parU. Mr. M. V. Jones wa-s Stage Manager. 1 The exercises lasted nearly four hours, and, judging from the. frequent and tumultuous applause of the large audience, were mo-t happily received. Mi. Jones h-ul only about two weeks to get ready for the per formance after it was lirst talked of and he was chosen as nvtnager. Sev eral of the pieces had not been criti cised at all ; the performers hid seareo'y any practice ; the stage was very small ; the audience crowded. In view of all these drawbacks, we think the exhibition was a big success, and the performers done themselves and the thriving town of Ilalsey great credit. An excellent essay was rr ad by D. Cooper. One Pkhsknt. ' for the next meeting: President, Rev. It. J. Thompson ; Vice President, D. C. Currie; Secretary, V. R. Rlain. The entire exercises were harmoni ous and very pleasant:, and cannotf be without lene'tieial result to the cause, as the seed was sown on good ground. We have a strong tenierance force, and hope to make our power felt. SkCkktaky. STOVES INSURANCE, ETC. It is useless to attempt to cleanse a stream while the fountain is impure.
