Mb. Editor : Last Saturday proved

the sidewalks crowded with busy fect

there are as good horses in Oregon as any

The Linn County Lodge of the I.O-
of G.T. met at the Good Templar, Hall
in tho afternoon ; quite a number of
members of, the different lodges of this
praiseworthy order were present, and the

unmistakably that the order' is in a
healthy condition.' Delegates were elec-;

A public temperance meeting was held
t the M. E. Church in the evening ; the
attendance was good. Bey. A. Robede-.
livered a very logical and Dointcd address.
which went far to prove to the intelligent
audience present tht the use of iotoxi
catin? liquor as a beverage is a useless
as well as a Very wicked practicecntail
ing numberless evils upon . the human
system, as well as being very deleterious
to the moral welfare of society. He was
followed by tbe Kev. W. K. Bishop, who,
in his own laughable way, made lots of
fun for the boys, A few appropriate
songs were rendered by the singers, and
upon the whole the meeting passed off
pleasantly, and was considered a success.

the hospitality of the Rains mansion was
extended to him, and George entertained
the family circle by descriptions of the

Rains her latent love for the hero,' and
next morning Mr. Ramm "was - reminded

lawyers and indulging in sundry and v

Bees gather three kinds of products
Propolis, from the gum trees and shrubs ,
for fastening the joints and cracks of their
hives ; pollen, or bee bread, from flowers,
for feeding their young and themselves f
and honey, which- constitutes the! main!
food of the hive. .Water is ahio carried
into the hive during the breeding season,
for mixing with. the food for their young ;
salt is also made use of for the same puf-'

Wax; like fat; is an 'animal product,
and is secreted by the bees in thin scales-from-
the underside of the body. While
doing this, they consume large quantities
of honey from fifteen to twenty pounds
for every pound of wax secreted.
