"GAT" PLOWS,
Manufactured and sold for the very low price of
165 and 7'5.
THE simplicity and practicability of this now
Plow commends tt favorably to the special
notice of every farmer. It possesses s decided
superiority over ail other plows now in use. The
wheels are four Jeet itr diameter, and run on the
nnplowed land. Its entire, construction is in no
way complicated.. The plow ia managed in every
msnoef with ease, and-, reqsirea only two levers
to be used in making any alteration. The supe
riority of the "Gay" Plow: will be clearly shown
by the following certificate . ;. . ,
- We the undersigned; citfcfens of Lisa county,
Uregon, Baring purenasea aaa used Upon our
farms .the "Gay" Plow, hereby certify that the
same has given us en tire satisfaction. Its facility
for adjusting to suit the depth of furrow without
moviog from the seat. Is simple and easy. Wo
like the plow for its draught, because the same is
brought to bear directly npos the plow-beam in
stead of the carriage ; also, because it is strong
and durable, all except the wood-work being con
structed of wrought iron-oo castings are used.
The wheels running upon the solid land ia aa ad
vantage over other gang-plows, in atrikinar off
land and in plowing, not having to make the nec
essary changes in the machmery, and tb seat is
always level, not thr wing the driver forward or
sideways as in other plows. Bettor-work and
more of it eaa be accomplished by the tst of this
Plow than by hand. , ,
We take pleasure in recommending the "Gat"
Plow to our brother farmers, as one having no

' Campmeeting. The members of the
M. E. Church comprising the Albany
circuit will hold a eampmeeting, com
meneiog on the 7th of Jftly next, and if
the weather prove favorable, will continue
it over two Sabbaths. The grounds se
lected for the purpose are about threo
miles south of this city, on the west bank
of the, Calipooia river, on the farm of Mr.
Hughes. It ia in the midst of a beauti
ful grove of maple and fir, and is easy of
access from every quarter. Tuesday, the
28th of June, ia tbe day selected for the
meeting of those who will aid in putting
the grounds in order. Any wishing to
open a boarding house faring the can
tiuuance of .the meeting, should notify
the pastor, Ber. H." C. Jenkins, of the
fact. . ' ' . ' -'
Ho-sos Worthily Bestowed. We
see that the services and eminent ability
of Rev. T. S. Kendall, one of the pioneers
of Oregon and whose home is in Linn
county,, but who is at present spending a
few months in the East in attendance on
the General Assembly of the United
Presbyterian Church, has been duly ac
knowledged by his unanimous selection,
by that body composed of the. leading
divines of the Church in the United
States, as Moderator, or President, to
preside over the deliberations of the pres
ent session. The henor could not have
been more worthily bestowed.
.
Pickled Salmon. Messrs. P, C.
Harper & Co. have received a supply of
pickled salmon, the last catch of the
present scaeon, and which were pot tip at
or near Astoria o the Columbia river,
which arc without an exception the very
best sample of cured Ealmon ever put
upon the market. . The fish were in the
finest condition when "caught, and have
been put np in a superior manner. We
predict that after our epicures get a taste
of them, they will disappear like hot
cakes. Go to Harper's and invest.
Married. On last Sabbath evening,
at the "M. E. Church in this city, just
previous to the evening's sermon, Rev'.
Mr. Monteith joined together in bonds
matrimonial, Mr. Fred. Hill and Miss
Julia Driggs. The church edifice was
crowded to suffocation with the relatives
and friends of the handsome and happy
pair, who joined in wishing them all of
happiness that earth can bring. -
Machinery. Messrs. Blaio, Young
k Co. are prepared to furnish our farm
ers with the latest and best threshers and
cleaners, reapers, mowers, headers, &c,
at very reasonable figures. They are
selling an unusual number of machines
the. present season. Our farmers seem
determined to take no "chances" on the
coming harvest, but each is securing his
own machine. The "Baine wagon" also
takes well. " . "

IN presenting'the claims of this NEW KNIT
i TINU MACHINE to popular favor, we aim
at no more than a brief and candid statement of
its actual merits. We confidently claim that the
CLIMAX KNITTER is superior to all other ma
chines in the follwing respects :
l.j Simplicity of construction and operation.
' 2. Completeness and excellence of work. " '
3. Convenience of shape, sise aad weight of
machine.--
4. Durability of machine.
5. Rapidity of work. -0-
Cheapness. : v . "
It is so simple in its construction and in. its
workings,- that less than half the time is required
to learn to knit oa it than on others. : ' With it the
children of the household can do all the knitting.
It is made entirely of iron and steel. A aau s
sock can be made in thirty minute. It makes
the regular old old-fashioned knitting , needle
stitch or loop, (with several others -i desired);
turns the heel, making it of as good shape aa by
hand, without any sewing ; narrows or widens,
at the pleasure of the operator, sad makes a per
fect toe. .. Any article that eaa be knit by hand,
can he manufactured on this machine. .

"Won't Come to Time." The prin

tion meeting in this city on Saturday
night last, sometime after the speaking
was over, made so much noise while
attempting to get into his buggy to return
from ; whence he came, that prominent
Democrats here became ashamed of him,
and delegated the assistance he needed to
others.: This was not relished by ilUe

made ' the remark .that "Linn ' county

Afraid op their MEN.--Mr. A. C.
Jones, in his speech last Saturday night,
was particularly severe on Democrats who
are given to "selling out," and intimated
that terrible punishment awaited Demo

they dare to sell out to Ben Holladay 1
Now what in thunder did tho man mean ?
Does lie suspect anybody in particular of

is en a "big scare." Members or tn

day, now that they are "dead sore" of a)
majority in the Legislature, intends to
buy np that body, nd run it. This is
not tho most complimentary to the newly
elected members, and shows a great lack
j confidence somewhere. If Ben will

Cot it TaicK.-Tte parties who got "
up the transparencies for the DotoocTatio

pointed transparencies reflected somewhat
severely, and without cause, upon tfc
political character of life-long Democrat,
who are not disposed to let new recruits, -
coming in at tne last hour, run the
machine at their expense. . A slight dis
agreement, resulting in a black eye, be
tween two Democrats, wound up the great

Editor Register: The poor apology,
offered as a ratification, of Democratic
victory, which came off in Albany on
Satusday night last, demands at the hands
of Democrats proper, an explanation why
tbe thing was so complete a failure, and
why so .many went away disgusted. The .
proper steps in the beginning were had,
liberal contributions were given by all
who were solicited, none withholding
'from the fact of opposing any one of the
nominees of the last Convictionthe
hatchet was buried on the evening of the
election. Unfortunately the work pre
paratory to the celebration was conducted
by a set of fools, who squandered the sp
pf opriations made, and instead of repre
senting the wishes of the " Democracy,'
they wantonly perverted the intention
of the party, and turned the means-and
appliances lo individually disgracing men
-of tho party, whose record stands to-day
unsullied in nearly half of the counties in
Oiegon. i v. " :
Unprincipled fools, I admit, is a harsh
term.r Now for, the proof. The prime
mover in the disgraceful affair, Walter
Monteith's Terrapine (John Hacklcman),
who, from fourteen years experience as! a
standing candidate, knows that his polit
ical requium has been sung, and to-day is
a living monument of political perfidy,
that had its existence even prior to the
time he bolted the convention which
nominated John Lines for the office of
County Clerk, which office for fourteen
years said Joho Ilacklemao has coveted,
be now is swift to proscribe certain
Democrats for want of fealty to conven
tional", usage, forgetting that he bolted
the convention, ran against the regular
nominee (hut uncle J, and of Course Was
iogloriously defeated. ' Still later, and
d urine the war, when the political caul
dron was agitated from center to circum
ference, he was in control of a Democratic
paper, the Oregon Democrat, to which
the Democracy looked as the herald of"
their interests; yet, true to, and in keep
ing with the natural instincts of the
terrapin, he silently hauls ia his head,
boxes up his press ready for ; shipment,
bolts the party as editor, never consulting'
the political nor pecuniary rights of those
who hoisted him . to 'a position that he
ungratefully uisuonorea. 1 frankly sub

an avowed opposition to the Democracy.
tie Knows well tnat ne can never aspire
to any official position in Linn county,
and aa a pretext, covering up his real de
sign, be makes war' upon Democrats,
presuming thereby to drive them from
tbe party that he may succeed ia &aor-

stood ; you bare succeeded CJtnirably ia
driving the party from you, but you never
can succeed in driving men from their
principles. Practically you are and have
been out of the party, long since. .
The long, cadaverous Dallas, who, two

his muscle, (brains he could not), to offer
an insult to occasion. v : , : '
