Henderson will preach in the Congregational church of this city to morrow (Saobath) at 11 o'clock. All are invited to attend. Nearly Our Pay Up. Seven more week will close volume oue of the Reg ister.. We proposed, when vre issued the first number of the paper, to contin ue the publication one year, whether the patronage would justify or not. We ex pect tu make that promise jrood. A large majority of our subscribers ejected to pay ing in advance, fearful that we would be unable to continue the publication during the year, and they still owe us the amount of their subscription. If we had received from each the amount due us, we would have been enabled tcTctTup a better paper thou we have,' and made many im provements that have suggested them selves, that wa could not make because of the stringency in our exchequer. To commence the new volume we should like a new dress- ia fact, a new office, out and out ; and if those who owe U3 will fork over immediately we will order new material, and volume two of the Regis ter wilt appear in a bran new dress, en larged, cct. Come to sec us. Caught all the Tuotjt. Tbe par ty of excursionists, composed of "Judge liaber and lady, Marshal Fioman and lady, Frank Redfield, Perry gpinks, and others, who started for Fish Lake on the 1st of the month, returned on Wednes day last. They report having a splendid time fishing, hunting and berrying. The judge says its no use for oKher parties to o to the Jake for fish, as he, and his par ty caught the "last, one." ,l he woods, however, abound in deer and other game, and huntists can have all the sport they want. Think we'll go out and try our luck. Who wants to go ? Gold Metal Watches. Attention is directed to the advertisement of C. E. Collins & Co., San Francisco, jewelers, who are offering for sale the new gold metal watches,1 which are said to look and wear as well s the genuine, article, keep ood time, and are "cheaper thau either silver or gold watche?. Head their advertisement. Glen Oak Orpnait'a Home. The following brief statement of what has been done and what is proposed to be done in the future by the "Children's Aid - Society." for the benefit of Glen Oak Orphan's Home, we transfer to our columns from the Salem Unionist : ; The fact of the noble donation, by Mrs. J. L. Tarrish, of ten acres of land as a site upon which to erect a home for the homeless, is already known. This be nevolent act was the inception of the, en terprise. The society was organized, and has endeavored faithfully, thus far, to carry out the wiao and beneficent design ut first contemplated. Throu"h the Tinited efforts of the Society, aod generous fympathy of its friends, a comfortable aod commodious building has been erected amid the uaka upon the beautiful grounds, and the whole surrounded by a plaiu, substantial fence ail of which, by cautious and Wheat, and ; Phosphorus. When a wheat crop uf 25 bushels is harvested from au acre, there are removed -20 pounds of phosphoric acid aad 30 pounds of potash. If these are not restored by some form of manure, the field will not continue to produce 2G bushels to the acre. : married! July 4th. 1869, at the residence of A: L. Canon, Harrisburg, by A. W. Waters, City Recorder, Mr James Curtis to Miss Annie Cress, all of Harrisburg, Ogn.l i" economical management, is thus far un encumbered by debt. Yet the Society liud that the work has but a beginning. The house is to be furnished; the grounds put in proper order for cultivating and beautifying ; a Matron to be employed and paid ; child ren to be supported, &c. Several appli- r cations have already been made for home less ones, aud one has been received, not withstanding the Tow state of funds. It is to be hoped, however, by redoubled exertions, that all difficulties will be overcome, and that the Society will, very soon, be able to meet every worthy de mand. To further these plans it is, therefore, thought advisable to make a special effort during the coming Stato Fair, when there will be brought together from every J quarter of our State, those whom, we trust, will be ready And willing to lend a helping hand to a cause in which all should feel deeply interested. The Society, therefore, proposes to erect a suitaMe building upon the State Fair grounds immediately, and prepare themselves to open a first-class 4iRestsu ract," by which, together with the sale of useful and. fancy artic.'es, they hope to raise a fund that will do much towards ALBANY RliTAIL.
