Seliixg at Cost. Messrs. Parrish A Co. ad
vertise in our e lumus that they will sell goods at
cost to clofc out hn.-iriesss, and you can bet
your bottom dollar " Ibey will do just what they
say they will. Tttj have a large stock of dry
goods, clothing, etc., and it behooves every
body who need anything Hhey bavo f.tr sale, to
buy while goods are g iug at siieb low figures.
Another feature ia theis adrjrtissment it wou'd
be well to notice, and that is, the fact that they
desire all those owing them to "fork over" the
" sea-1?." They actually finel that they cannot
sell goods on loug credits and make the lusincss
lucrative thev must collect occasionally. Well,
you -onldnt find a more deserving Crm, or more
accommodating gentlemen to j deal with, than

keeping," of coursa you need chairs, on 1 if it
really baprjens that you want a good chair, at
reasonable figures, we advise yon to look at John

durable chair, the kind to commence with. Then
Kr. M. Slakes a splendid spinning wheel, a reg

this, he is "nearly lightning on turning ieter3

of a sawlogin less than a "jiffy." Drop into his
shop soon, buy a cfozen or so of chairs, and see
that lathe chaw up wood. It beats all. :
Dextistry. Dr. Geo. W. Gray expects to be
absent from his office iu this city the first two
or three weeks of December, 1868, on professional
business ia the towns of Peoria and llarrisburg,
topping in each place a few: days only. All
persons living in the vicinity of tho above named
places, wishing first class dental operations, will
do well to give him a call soon after hia. arrival,
as business at his office compalls him te' hurry

Fire Engine. We are iuformed by
competent authority, that', a good fire
enuino, with hose carriasre and hose com

We are assured by the same authority
that if an engine had been on hand
Tuesday night when he arrived there,
the nrain building could have been saved
aud the saving of this building would
have paid for the engine. Several citi
zens have offered to dig fire cisterns, at
their own expense, provided the city will
purchase an engine. What say our peo
