Ralph Walker and Miss Ixmise
English from the Behnke-Walker
business college in Portland visited
the Hillsboro high school Wednes
day. February 5 They put on a
each typing
demonstration
Miss English, who is a typing in
structor at the college, typed at
all speeds ranging from 30 words
a minute to 300 She has typed
faster than this. She typed 111
words a minute while carrying on a
conservation with one of the stu
dents and 112 words a nnnute while
orally spelling 21 words. She has
typed in many contests and won
her first typewriter four months
and ten days of typing.
She demonstrated the correct po
sition and technique of typing and
gave some pointers on how to in
crease typing speed and decrease
errors. The students all enjoyed a
demonstration of how a poor steno
grapher types. She did everything
that a good stenographer wouldn't
do and nothing that a good one
would do.
Walker answered student ques
tions about the college and gave
some good suggestions on how to
improve typing ability.

ward this year to an annual that
will surpass any cf previous years

1M1 year book, announced that
this year's annual will have a plas-
ter cover with a colorful picture
on the first page The composition
will be improved also, if plans cf
the annual staff are carried out.

about Hilhi. One of these books will
be sent to the B W Barnes school,
one to the local library, and one

Names Checked
The name of every Hilhi student
has been compiled by Rosemary
Read, Doris Simmons and Doris
Wiley for Hilhilights.” This has
been done to avoid unequal repre
sentation in the school paper of
some people. Each time a person's
name appears in the paper in
stories other than sports, their
name is checked If too many
checks appear by a pupils name,
that person fa:ls to make the style
news er gossip column. The lesser
known students are being brought
to the limelight by the
aff of
Hilhilights.
