am id a sort of join, christen in g c e r­
em ony for i, and a rem odeled fire
hall.
The truck, a new Dodge, was d e ­
livered by Cady M otor com pany I,
w as purchased by the city for ad d i­
tion to the fire d ep artm en t's cqinp-
m ent. The new body and fire p a ra ­
phernalia. w hich w ill m ake it one of
th e states up-to -d ate pieces of fire­
fighting equipm ent, w ill be p u r­
chased and constructed by th e fire­
m en's organization.
C hanges Made in Building
E xtensive alteratio n s in the city
hall recently have doubled the space
of the fire dep artm en t's q u a rters
m oved th e city jail cells, added a
tool and equipm ent storage shed,
and seen the erection of a new hose
drying tow er. O ne partitio n w as re ­
m oved at the back of the old fire-
h all space, doubling the length of
th e quarters. Had it not been for
this im portant enlargem ent, the
new truck w hich has a 16-foo, long
chassis behind th e cab. could not
have been accom m odated. F ire d e­
p artm en t trucks are now in the
sam e p art of th e building w ith the
city hall heating unit, thus assuring
p ro p e r w arm th and consequent
easier startin g of m otors in w in ter
w eather, according to S. W. Mel-
huish. fire chief.
G arage space on th e T hird street
side of the citv hall was cut som e­
w h a t by the alterations, and the
cells of the city jail w ere moved to
th e east side of th e building in the
changes. A dditional storage space
fo r city trucks and equipm ent, how ­
ever. w as provided bv th e u tiliza­
tion of space form erly left idle in
th e west portion of th e b uilding
