H illsboro's 1937 population, the
census shows, is 3.600. o r a gain of
561 over th e 3,039 rep o rte d in the
1930 g overnm ent census. F orest
G rove's rep o rted gain w as even
higher, w ith 641 ad d itio n al people
bringing th e 1930 fig u re of 1,859 up
to 2 500 for the c u rre n t y e a r B eav­
erto n 's figures show ed 1.465 f o r
1937, as against 1,1138 fo r seven
years ago.
T he Polk census is tak en a n n u a l­
ly in P ortland, and show s a gain of
25,872 new citizens for th e state's
m etropolis since th e 1930 census.
The out-of-tow n census w as con­
ducted by the Polk officials at the
req u est of th e P o rtlan d C h am b er of
C om m erce th ro u g h th e city and
tow n officials, and show ed the rest
of the state keeping up w ith P o rt­
land in population increase. A v er­
