THAT SPECKLED HEN
We have a little bantam hen who lin g s
so loud and long.
We really are oft tim es amused to hear
her joyful song.
Now some folks think it foolishness and
wouldn’t give it mention
But well I think that speckled hen Is
worthy of attention.
»inj2w ¡n rain, she sing« in shine,
nor ruffles up a feather,
never troubles to complain, no mat
ter what the weather
never stops to agonize about the sad
tomorrow.
k
sings today along her way and doe»
not trouble borrow.
She may be caught by unkind hand, put
in a noodle pot.
But no self-pity has that hen, bemoaning
her sad lo t;
Sometimes the food supply runs low, no
wheat is in her larder.
There's no complaint «»he still sings on,
and scratches all the harder.
I’ve learned a lesson from that hen,
fears no sad tomorrow.
The things I dread may never come,
may bring joy not sorrow.
I'll see the good in
the best I can
And try to pass just
that speckled hen.
