The debt specialist as signed by th e R esettlem ent ad m in istration as part of its n atio n -w id e fig h t against farm poverty, supplies experience, know ledge of federal lending agencies, and an u n d e r stan d in g of legal rig h ts of both sides Each case is h eard confidentially, and a program m ade up involving extension of time, rearran g ed p ay m ent dates, increased farm income, o r refinancing through some len d ing agency. The new pro g ram is then laid before th e creditors, as a suggested altern ativ e to co u rt ac tion. All w ork is advisory, since th e com m ittee has no au th o rity to force acceptance of its proposals, but in a surprising percetage of eases the program is accepted w ith out a lte r ation. said Plam ondon.
