The organization is state-w ide, according to a rep o rt from its headquarters, w ith A m adee M. S m ith of P o rtlan d as chairm an, and w ith h ead q u arters in P o rtlan d and Salem M em bership extends th roughout th e state, th e group ,e - ports. In presenting th e ir arg u m en t for th e m easure, the organization says: "We call atten tio n to th e fact th a t W ashington county is one of th e highest in delinquency. A to tal of 33 28 of p ro p erty in th e county is delinquent for th e y ear 1934- 35. This is a trem endous increase since 1931 w hen delinquency was 9 74 per cent. In 1934 it am ounted to 21.91. D elinquencies have gone up by leaps and bounds in W ash­ ington county since 1931. The d e­ linquent tax in 1931 am ounted to $83.753. In 1935 th e delinquency w as $302.927. T he sam e story, or w orse, is found in ev ery county in Oregon.
