The presentation was m ade by Mrs. M. M. Romig of H ills­ boro. The gavel was one of four m ade in the school m an u al tra in in g shops here at th e directio n of B. W. Barnes, O. G. Hughson. M M. Romig and O. M P lu m m er of P o rt­ land. T he o th er th ree a re for p res­ entation to dep artm en t heads of the convention. Each gavel is ac­ com panied by a card giving the history of th e wood used. O f chief interest at th e meeting, w ere rep o rts m ade by delegations from all states on th e subjects. O ne of th e most in terestin g re- ports was on th e hik es taken by Vermont youngsters o v er the long Vermont trail w hich trav erses the state from north to south, a n d along w hich hostels h av e b e e r erected for accom m odation of the youthful hiking parties.
